Marc Gene?

[edit]

Marc Gene in NASCAR? I can't find any source that confirms this.--209.51.72.95 (talk) 00:51, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

41 Car

[edit]

I agree about Marc Gene. As much as I'd like to believe that Bobby Labonte in the 41 car is a done deal, I have yet to hear official word about who will drive the car. Is there a reference which quotes somebody saying Labonte is officially in the 41 car? 67.189.108.56 (talk) 00:55, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Results graph

[edit]

I suggest a table of complete results for all Sprint Cup drivers in 2009. Nearly all other forms of racing covered on Wikipedia (Formula One, IndyCar/Champ Car, A1GP, GP2, etc.) have each individual driver's results (position number) with coding which indicates pole position and fastest lap. Each result is also highlighted a certain color for each kind of finish, and one such set has been made (NOT by me) for NASCAR results. This is a sample from the results chart I made on the 1996 NASCAR Winston Cup Series season page:

Pos ## Driver DAY Florida ROC North Carolina RIC Virginia ATL Georgia (U.S. state) DAR South Carolina BRI Tennessee NWK North Carolina MAR Virginia TAL Alabama SON California 600 North Carolina DOV Delaware POC Pennsylvania MIC Michigan DAY Florida NHS New Hampshire POC Pennsylvania TAL Alabama IMS Indiana WTK New York (state) MIC Michigan BRI Tennessee DAR South Carolina RIC Virginia DOV Delaware MAR Virginia NWK North Carolina CHA North Carolina ROC North Carolina PHX Arizona ATL Georgia (U.S. state) Points Behind
1 5 Texas T. Labonte 24 34 8 2 5 2 1 24 4 5 3 2 7 2 2 6 16 24 3 2 3 5 26 5 21 2 5 1 3 3 5 4657 Champion

Yeah, it would be very long and drawn out, but if it is updated after each race, it won't take 30-32 hours to complete (or longer!). 97.125.22.186 (talk) 05:19, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • A bit too long for the tastes of the editing. NoseNuggets (talk) 3:126 PM US EDT Mar 8 2009.

Almost any other racing series has this kind of table. At least there should be a list of Cup standings somewhere, so that somebody (for example me!) who wants to see who's leading the Cup won't have to go the Nascar.com website... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.141.65.213 (talk) 18:37, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This would be great to replace the current stuff at the bottom, as well as the standings table at the top. Link each race to the start. Really, this page needs a pretty big re-write.Buffalodan (talk) 01:30, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Buffalodan[reply]

Who wants to start a "Adventures of Digger and Friends" page?

[edit]

Is anyone interested in starting a seperate page on "The Adventures of Digger and Friends", please let me know. NoseNuggets (talk) 3:17 PM US EDT Mar 8 2009

Title

[edit]

Why is there no "season" in the title? The Sprint Cup Series is the series, not the season. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.4.252.230 (talk) 03:11, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Becuase that's the way it works...just enough. NoseNuggets (talk) 11:59 AM US EDT May 31 2009
This should be changed to fit the standard of other motorsports entries on Wikipedia. "Because it is" doesn't change the fact that it's technically wrong.

Season standings

[edit]

Anyone mind telling me why exactly there is not a listing of the current driver and team standings? Certainly if someone came to this article, they'd expect to know who is leading the series or who is in or out of the Chase? Raace summaries are fine, but they don't give you an overall season picture. IIIVIX (Talk) 09:38, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very true. Any series in process shows where people are at according to points, or what have you. MLB, MLS, F1, WRC, everything. Why does this not tell me who is in the lead. Actually, I will work on adding a current table, just showing total points, but i would like to see one breaking it down by race. Buffalodan (talk) 23:49, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Buffalodan[reply]

"I will work on adding current table". Still nothing shows there. Rather nice again go to NASCAR.com to check the standings... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.141.125.19 (talk) 14:35, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notice there is no driver standings in this article. Can this be fixed as a matter of urgency? --Falcadore (talk) 21:34, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Race by Race Recap?

[edit]

If it's alright for everyone, I've started adding a short race by race recap with a short summary, and few note jots to each race just like the previous years before this one have. If anyone wants to jump into it and help add on that's great, but just know that it'll be incomplete for a while, but I will continue adding on as I gain time. I know there are one click reports in the race results box for convenience, but I feel it wouldn't hurt having a race by race recap as I've mentioned. JRNIXDO 23:43, 13 August 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by RBigGame48 (talkcontribs)

A race by race recap is actually off topic. Individual race summaries belong in individual race articles. Any report should be of the season as a whole, not in tiny individual race chunks.
Put simply if someone asks you who won NASCAR in 2009 do you say Jimmie Johnson won the championship or do you say Jimmie Johnson won seven races?
This is the article on the Sprint Cup Series and reporting on it should reflect the season as a whole. --Falcadore (talk) 23:50, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
